Kira Kira
Setting sail in 2014, the 22m sailing Phinisi Kira Kira is an excellent budget friendly option for exploring the beautiful and remote regions of Komodo National Park & Raja Ampat. Crafted by hand over a 2 year period, the Kira Kira was built to ensure stability, comfort and safety. With the potential to to travel up to 1500 nautical miles, she is an economic and environmentally friendly vessel. The boat caters to a maximum of 8 passengers in 4 cabins, ensuring a more personalised service, ideal for for friends, families or individuals interested in bonding with a small group. Three of the cabins aboard the Kira Kira liveaboard are twins, and there is one roof-top double which offers amazing panoramic views. There are 2 shared bathrooms on board and each cabin has storage space for bags and dive gear and wardrobe. For relaxation guests can choose to lounge on the sun deck or open-air lounge with stunning sun-set views, read a book, enjoy a cold beer or pick up some cooking tips from the on-board chef.
The Boat
Kira Kira is a construction by the Konjo Boat Builders of South Sulawesi. Hand crafted over a two year period on the beaches of Mandala Ria, in the village of Ara using Tropical Hardwoods from the forests of Kendari. Kira Kira is a 22 meter long Pinisi, boasting four cabins and a communal dining area, a covered dive deck and large sun area... 4.5 meter wide, with two teak masts and a Ketch Cutter sail rig... She motors at 7 - 8 knots and sails with the wind. The hull sits on a double Ironwood keel, the body first shaped over fires, the ribs crafted thereafter from Bitti timbers enclosed with a thick Teak deck... The cabins cut from Kendoli and Teak boast large beds and are naturally vented... Shared bathroom facilities with modern bathroom appliances, marine toilets and traditional handcrafts. Comfortable sun lounging on deck, cold beers, incredible sunsets, a selection of fresh cooked Indonesian and western meals... Freshly caught fish, beach BBQ’s, fresh baked bread, hot coffee and treats. Kira Kira was launched in 2014 and is crewed by the Bugis sailors, from Bira in South Sulawesi...
